A lot of you have read my stories and by now are aware of what I write. Child abuse, domestic abuse, sex trafficking. The general evils of this world that most people turn a blind eye to. It's hard to look at, much harder to write I assure you. But it's as real as you and me and it needs to be brought into the light. One way that that happens is me writing it, and you reading it. But one more key part is you seeing the truth behind my fictitious take on the topic.
 
This post will be full of links to awareness stories, links to movie trailers, books, statistics and videos that are trying to help the victims just like I am. It's not easy to see but it's worth it if you will.

A report of child abuse is made every ten seconds.
Almost five children die every day as a result of child abuse. More than three out of four are under the age of 4.
Child abuse occurs at every socioeconomic level, across ethnic and cultural lines, within all religions and at all levels of education.
It is estimated that between 60-85% of child fatalities due to maltreatment are not recorded as such on death certificates.
90% of child sexual abuse victims know the perpetrator in some way; 68% are abused by family members.
About 80% of 21-year-olds that were abused as children met criteria for at least one psychological disorder.
About 30% of abused and neglected children will later abuse their own children, continuing the cycle.

How good of you to join me. My name will be Maeko. I'm a fifteen year old mormon girl, but none of that is relevant right now. There's another blog made by me about myself. This is something bigger. A ton of you will question my sanity after you're done reading this post. I'm okay with that.
There's a world of sin around us, that we can see out of the corner of our eye. A lot of us choose to dismiss it, pretend it was never there. But if you turn your head to catch a glimpse, it's not hard to spot the truth. The reason kids aren't allowed to play in the yard after sundown. The topic that reminds us that the monsters we used to check under our beds for are driving down our street as we speak. Something everyone has seen at least a glimpse of, but very few choose to actually look. It's hard to look at something so dark. Believe me I know. But sometimes the right thing is also the hard thing.

I write stories about the darker side of the world. Domestic abuse, Child Abuse, Sex Trafficking. It's hard to look at, but it's much harder to write. I don't like what I write, of course not. But nothing motivates me more than showing this to the world in the hopes that we can end it. I'm not alone in this. There are thousands of organizations. I'm not a part of any of them, but I'm with them just the same. We want the word to get out that this stuff happens, so that people stop turning a blind eye and people stop getting away with it.  Feel free to stop reading now if that is what you choose.
